Projects and Activities

What are projects?

4-H projects are long-term, educational experiences that only youth enrolled in that project may participate. A 4-H project is what a 4-H member learns, makes or does; for example: learn to grow a vegetable garden, build and program robots, sew a dress, or train a dog. Projects vary from aerospace to woodworking, birds to rabbits, and clothing to vegetables. Youth have the opportunity to enter their work at the Winnebago County Fair.

For a complete list of 4-H projects in Winnebago County, please see the 2017-2018 Project Guide.

4-H Project Committees

Winnebago County 4-H has committees in the Dairy, Goats, Shooting Sports, Foods, Horse & Pony, and Dog projects. These groups plan and conduct county-level educational events, activities, and meetings. PLEASE NOTE: The Winnebago County Fair  winnebagocountyfaironline.com and the Meat Animal Board https://www.facebook.com/Winnebago-County-Meat-Animal-Board-400029630090959/ are not overseen by Winnebago County 4-H. Information about these groups and their events can be found on their website or Facebook page.

Dairy

Winnebago County Futurity

The 4-H Dairy Futurity is meant to encourage dairy project members of Winnebago County to gain industry experience by giving incentives for making comprehensive management decisions with their dairy project animals. It also encourages the exhibition of more mature heifers, giving the project members a complete project experience with the same animal for at least one year. The 4-H Dairy Project and the Dairy Futurity provide opportunities to expose participants to potential careers in the dairy and agriculture industry.

Shooting Sports

Would you like to become a volunteer for the Shoot Sports Project? Please click below for current opportunities and what those positions entail.

Alert: We have a severe Peanut Allergy within our Shooting Sports participants. We are asking all parents and shooters to refrain from bringing ANYTHING containing peanuts/nuts or peanut butter for snacks. As a leadership group we will make certain that our treats / bullseye prizes and raffle snacks are free from peanuts but I need to have all parents make sure nothing comes in from home as it can transfer from the child to a bow or a table. Thank you in advance for your understanding and your cooperation.
